SOLO EXHIBITION, INNER LANDSCAPE - IMPRESSIONS FROM SCOTLAND AT GALLERI KUNSTGRESS

August 6-16, 2020

The exhibition 'Inner landscape - Impressions from Scotland' was composed of selected works from, and inspired by my stay in the Scottish Highlands. The exhibition contains drawings, etchings and oil paintings.

In 2019, I was awarded a government scholarship by The Sawyer Gallery at Inverewe Garden and Estate in the Scottish Highlands owned by the National Trust of Scotland. As an ‘artist in residence’, I lived and worked in The Highlands in late summer and autumn. The assignment I was given was to interpret the Scottish landscape with Scandinavian eyes.
The Highlands of the Scots are today part of me. The exhibition's works testify to a presence in nature and mind, far from a stressful city life. Emotional use of color emphasizes the importance of nature and its interaction with the landscape of emotional life.

Galleri Kunstgress, Grønnegata 4a, 0350 Oslo, NO

Opening Thursday 6 August, 5 pm
Opening hours:
Thursday and Friday - 13.00-19.00
Saturday and Sunday - 11.00-17.00

DIALOGUE WITH DAVID SANDUM ON ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

June 12, 2020

Friday, June 12, 2020 at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM UTC+02 - Forandringsrommet, Fossen 20, 1530 Moss, Norway

EXHIBITED AT SAWYER GALLERY

Aug 17, 2019

Aug 3 - Sep 11, 2019, "Evolving Impressions", by David Sandum - Sawyer Gallery - 'meet the artist' event Sat Aug 17th at 2pm.

My work is “driven by the moment”, making strong use of color to express my emotions as I paint. As a result, it is difficult to predict what I will produce from day-to-day; whether I'll be working with oils, watercolor, ink or charcoal, or writing.

This exhibition began with blank walls, and as my residency progressed, the walls filed with my work. I painted in the garden or in public areas wherever possible, encouraging interaction with visitors and staff.

The exhibition launch was part-way through my residency, with live painting or drawing, and the launch of my limited edition Inverewe inspired etchings.
